The HORWITZ PIANO STUDIO offers private instruction in piano and theory to students of all ages, from beginners to advanced pianists. Age is no barrier to learning to play and I have taught students from ages 5 to 75. Since adult students wish to learn to play for their personal pleasure and relaxation, they are not expected to take part in the performance and testing events which are part of the school age students' annual activities.
As a current vice president and former president of the Maryland State Music Teachers Association, I am an active member of both MSMTA and MTNA, the nation's largest music teachers' organization. I can provide training and many performance opportunities in both solo and ensemble playing through the Solo and Ensemble Festivals at the University of Maryland. My students also take part in the annual MSMTA Theory and Keyboard Musicianship Exams. Spring recitals bring the students and parents together to share their joy in bringing music alive and the students receive trophies to celebrate their year's achievements.
The studio is located in the Rockville area of Montgomery County, MD, just south of Norbeck Road. This is easily accessible from Olney, Brookeville, Derwood, Potomac, Gaithersburg and Silver Spring.
